reminds me of yes yes y’all, which i was just thinking of re-reading last night.
one of my favorite anecdotes about the history of hip hop is how they plugged into the light poles to throw parties on the street. i suppose early rave culture had similar correlations with true warehouse parties.
i get that it’s somewhat criminal, but there’s just something to pure and raw about saying “we’re going to do what we have to do to have a good time.”
i wish i’d experienced something like that. the beginnings… before commercialization…
